Harmoni allows you to create new items or customized constructions to suit your analysis and reporting requirements. New variables can be created using items that already exist in the project, or with user-entered values.
Measure groups is another construction type available in Harmoni. Measure groups combine a group of measures that are logically linked together.

1. Create a measure group
You can create a new measure group by selecting multiple measures and then choosing the option new measure group under construct from the design menu.
Alternatively, you can also create a measure group by selecting the option new measure group and then dragging the relevant measures into this item.
- Select the measures you want to add to the measure group
- Select create new measure group under construct
- Name your measure group
Alternatively,
- Select create new measure group under construct
- Name your measure group
- Drag relevant measures you want to to the measure group
2. Measures inside measure groups
Measure groups look like an axis, but they contain numerical values. When grouped, each individual measure becomes an element of the measure group.
Measures inside a measure group can be renamed. They can have the same label as any other axis or measure in your project tree.
Linked Axis
By selecting a measure inside the measure group, and using the linked axis option, Harmoni automatically creates a standard (linked) axis that looks at the values in the measure. Learn more about linked axes.
3. Measure groups in Analysis
A standard axis must already exist in the analysis before adding a measure group,
4. Remove measures for a measure group
A measure group can be split into individual measures.
- One ore more measures can be removed by dragging and dropping out of the measure group.
When removing a measure from the group, you have the option to preserve or revert to the original labels of the items. If you have already done some label changes, you may want to maintain these.
Once split, measures will go back to their original location in the project tree.
Before removing a measure group make sure it is not used in any views, stories, or dashboards, else they will become invalid even when you recreate the group.
5. Measure groups in Grids
Measure groups can be combined together in a Grid.
To create a grid:
- Select the measure groups you want to combine.
- Select add grid under grid.
Combining standard axes and measure groups in a Grid
Even better, measure groups can be combined with standard axes in a grid. You can add measure groups to an existing grid or use the add grid option under grid.
Once items are in the grid you have the ability to harmonize labels to suit your reporting requirements. However, elements can't be combined to create a net in a grid that contains a measure group.
