Your experience in Harmoni is determined by your user role. Harmoni allows for three distinct levels of access to your site: Creator, Explorer, and Viewer.
As a project, story, or dashboard owner, you can choose who and how you want other users to collaborate. Sharing permissions are granted using the Sharing Pane.

1. User Roles
a) Creator
The highest level of access, permission, and control.
With this role, you have access to the full set of available tools and capabilities of Harmoni, and it allows you to create and distribute both projects and outputs from it.
A Creator can:
- Create, edit and update projects.
- Add and update data.
- Publish projects to other Creator and Explorer users.
- Combine and harmonize multiple data sources.
- Create, combine, group, shape, align, relabel and design data in the project tree.
- Include custom variables, weights, measures, bases.
- Create constructions that become available to all other users (public variables).
- Save and share analyses through Stories.
- Create Dashboards.
Quick Start - Create a Project.
People that hold the Creator Role The highest level of access, permission, and control. within Harmoni have the permissions to create Projects, and then edit and share. The user that creates a project is the Project Owner.
The project owner has the ultimate right to publish a project to a broader group.
b) Explorer
Ideal for those who want to investigate data.
An Explorer can:
- View projects that have been shared with them.
- Access the project tree to allow for drag and drop analysis and visualization.
- Create custom constructions (private variables).
- Save and share analyses through stories.
- View dashboards shared with you.
c) Viewer
Recipient of created content such as stories, reports, and dashboards. Viewers can access stories and dashboards shared with them.
A Viewer can:
- View stories and dashboards shared with them.
- Create their own stories from dashboards and stories shared with them.
- Export all saved stories and dashboards directly to PPT and Excel.
