After creating an analysis, you have the option to interact with the settings and change as needed to suit your specific reporting requirements. You can do this using the options available in the modify menu .Learn more. Some settings can be controlled using personalization keysKeys that can be applied at the user, site (all users), or company (all users) level. Contact support for more information.
During your session, your setting preferences are retained across projects and analyses, unless:
- You use the reset option,Learn more. which will return all settings to the default state.
- You end your session (log out or close browser).
- You load an analysis that already has pre-saved settings (i.e., Story)
Remember, refreshing your browser effectively ends your session, so it will also reset your defaults.
Reset returns settings to the default state.
Clear analysis keeps your settings intact.
This article describes the "out of the box" settings when you start interacting with Harmoni to create analysis.

When you first create an analysis, the defaults are as follows:
- Analysis with a single-axis - Will show percentages and counts in the across direction (columns).
- Analysis with a cross-tab or grid - Will show counts for the total and percentages for all other elements in the down direction (rows).
a. Add/Replace calculation types
The add/replace switch, in the modify menu, enables the creation of tables that show either a single calculation type (using replace) or multiple calculation types (using add).
While the add/replace switch is on replace, any calculation type selection will replace the calculation type for the cell(s) currently selected. If no cells are selected the new calculation type is applied to the entire table).
Adding calculation types will follow the pattern of your table.
In an analysis with a single axis, where there are already two calculation types in the across direction (e.g., Total row as counts and elements as percentages), any new calculation type is added as a new column.
In an analysis with a cross-tab or a grid, where there are two calculation types in the down direction, any new calculation type is added as a new row.
b. Single direction for calculation types
Harmoni will only allow you to add calculation types in the same direction (down or across). For example in a cross-tab where there are two calculation types in the down direction, even when you select a column the option to add/replace won't be available.
Once you have multiple calculation types going in one direction you need to reset to just one type before changing to have multiples in the other direction.
To change to have multiple types in the other direction, use the replace option to change your analysis to have just one calculation type, then to start adding calculation types to the columns, first select the columns and use add mode. Similarly, if you want to change to rows, select the rows, then use add mode to add additional calculation types.
c. Calculation types stick to elements
In an analysis, when you add calculation types and then flip your table, the calculation types are "sticky" to the elements.
In the example above, Bases are added to the elements in the down dimension (Tour, Package, Independent). The bases stick to the elements and flip in the same direction.
d. Measures in analysis table
When you have a combination of standard axes and measures in your analysis, Harmoni allows you to use different calculation types.
As a default, when you add a measure to an analysis that already includes standard axes, the calculation type for the standard axes will remain, and the measures will inherit the same settings.
In the future, the default will be for measures to display averages, while the rest of the table retains the original settings.
e. Significance testing
The personalization key for significance difference testing can be set to ON (True) as a default.
When significance difference testing is on by default, SIG testing will only switch on when you create an analysis with a cross tab.
SIG testing remains off in an analysis with a single axis with the following exceptions:
- With a single axis and a time axis as a filter.
- When you have intentionally switched SIG on, it will remain on for your session or until you reset.
When significance testing key is set to ON, the behavior is as follows:
- For an analysis with a single axis, significance testing is Off.
- For an analysis with a single axis and a time axis filter, significance testing is On.
- For an analysis with a single axis when you have intentionally switched on during your session, significance testing is On.
- For an analysis with a cross tab, significance testing is On.

a. Visualise - Total elements
When you choose to Visualise an analysis, the name of the axis (axes) in the down dimension is displayed in the chart legend as a reference.
If only the total elements have been graphed, the axis label becomes more relevant as you no longer have response labels to help provide context.
- You can rename a total element using the settings options. Learn more. In the future, renaming the total will give you the option to override/hide the header (axis name).
- If you choose to use the chart in a dashboard, you have the option to hide the header label using the legends options, Learn more. under the container general settings.
b. Colors locked to elements
When you choose to visualise an analysis, you have the option of changing the default color Learn more. of any given plotted item in a graph to suit your preferences, or can keep the default colors assigned by Harmoni.
When you rank Learn more. your analysis the original allocated colors are retained in the charts. At the same time, the legend is reordered to reflect the ranking.
