To create a new projectA Harmoni Project is a collection of data sources that can be harmonized, designed, analyzed, visualized, and shared with others. in Harmoni, you need to upload or connect to a data source.A source is a collection of data that is either in an imported file or a connected data store. Learn more about Data Sources. A Harmoni project can contain data from multiple sources. Before loading or connecting to data sources, you need to think about the number of sources, how you want to use and analyze your data. You also need to consider the structure of your data sources.

1. Single source
To create a new project with a single data source, you simply need to upload or connect to add data to your project.

2. More than one source - no need to combine in a single analysis
When you have more than one source, before creating your project you need to take into account your analysis requirements. If data sources won't ever be combined in a single analysis, it is best to create different projects. You can always bring together data from different projects into a dashboard.

3. More than one source - need to combine in a single analysis
When you have more than once source, before creating your project you need to take into account the structure of your data. This will determine whether you have to use add or append.
a) Different respondents/records across sources - Add
When respondents or cases across data sources are different, you need to add all sources into the same project. Learn more about how to add data to your project.
Some examples:
- Different files across time periods (i.e. Brand Tracker_2018.sav, Brand Tacker 2019.sav)
- Different files per market (i.e. Brand Tracker_NZ.sav, Brand Tacker_Australia.sav)
Add data sources to the same project if you want to analyze them together in a single analysis or story view.
b) Common respondents/records across sources - Append
When respondents or cases across data sources are common, to include data into your project you need to append data sources. Learn more about how to append data in your project.
Data append is a process that involves adding new data elements to an existing project by matching either by order or a common identifier. Append allows you to add new variables to respondents within a project when information of common respondents is captured in separate data sources.
For example, one source contains the main survey information, and another source includes the weighting variables and you need these to link together.
